Testing has begun at CNR IAS laboratories in Torregrande for data logger sensors that will be used in the MedSeaPod project. This project, which aims to monitor thermal variations in the Mediterranean’s ultra-coastal waters, sees close collaboration between scientific institutions, local businesses and science-loving citizens. CNR IAS laboratories have know-how, advanced research and development capabilities, and are the ideal place to test and calibrate the loggers before their deployment in the field. In fact, these devices are crucial for collecting accurate and reliable data, which will enable a better understanding of the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems.
“The testing process is crucial to ensure that our sensors are fully functional and ready for field deployment,” explained Dr. Stefano Marras, MedSeaPod project scientific officer. The data we collect will be crucial for our research and for promoting environmental sustainability in the Mediterranean.”
Preliminary testing in CNR IAS laboratories is a key step toward project implementation. Once completed, the loggers will be placed in several strategic locations to conduct field tests and then begin real-time data collection.
