Understanding the sea through data
We collected actual temperatures around St. Peter's Island. Now you can explore them in a new way.
The MedSeaPod project was created to make environmental data accessible to all.
Through citizen science and interactive visualization, we want to tell the story of how the sea changes and how these changes affect ecosystems.
Two ways to read sea data
Each dataset tells a story. You can choose to immerse yourself in an interactive 3D space or analyze graphs for clear, linear comparisons.
3D Explorer
An immersive environment where data takes shape in space. Rotate, zoom, and click on the dots to find out the recorded temperature day by day and hour by hour.
Charts
A clear interface for those who prefer traditional charts. Compare datasets, identify trends, peaks, and anomalies with ease.
Data as a tool for awareness
Every value recorded in the sea is a fragment of history: water temperature changes with the seasons, winds and currents, affecting the life of marine ecosystems.
Collecting this data means building a collective memory of the sea, which is crucial to understanding ongoing climate change and the impact it has on biodiversity.
With MedSeaPod we transform numbers and measurements into an accessible language. Data collected around St. Peter’s Island become interactive visualizations and clear graphs for everyone-researchers, students and citizens-to explore, compare and understand.
